Loving the book, U2 by U2, I got for Christmas (see, I was good this year). It's got some great insight by the band. The haircuts they sported .... not so great.

Oh, and here are some tunes to help ring in the the New Year:

"This is the New Year" by Death Cab for Cutie
"This Will Be Our Year" by OK Go
"New Year's Day" by U2
"This Will Be My Year" by Semisonic

Well, we've reached that point in the year when everyone is releasing their Top 10 lists of the best albums of the year.

Want to know mine? Frankie says relax. I'm not quite ready to divulge that just yet. But I'll take a page from Esquire and tell you which artists won't be making the cut.

Barry Manilow

K-whatshisname

The Killers (dudes, the Duran Duran thing was working and yeah some people dug it... just not me)

Any "American Idol"

I love Rolling Stone magazine. I alaways learn something new. For instance, I found out Van Halen has fired bass player Michael Anthony, the only guy in the band who could ever really sing.

After reading a little piece about them, I have a new band of interest: Lavender Diamond. I checked them out. Cool folksy stuff.

Maybe it's just me, but I think there should be a ban on using the words "Barack Obama" and "rock star" anywhere near each other.

Also, here's what I've been enjoying lately:

"The Crane Wife 1&2" by The Decemberists
"The Saints Are Coming" by U2 and Green Day
"Drive My Car/The Word/What You're Doing" by The Beatles (from the "Love" album)
"Last Christmas" by Jimmy Eat World
"Acquiesce" by Oasis
